PEACOCK FARM MUSTON
BEEKEEPING IN THE VALE OF BELVOIR
On Peacock Farm, our honey is taken from our hives all kept in the Vale of Belvoir.
The fresh honey is processed on the farm and supplied to many local shops. Relying on nature though, means the harvest of honey can vary so if you can’t find it at one of the suppliers listed on our website, you can always contact us to get some direct from the farm.
Donya had always been interested in keeping bees. She got in touch with her local British Beekeeper Association (BBKA) group and I offered a local beekeeper space on the farm to keep his bees. She is now a fully-fledged member of the BBKA, looking after all her own hives as well as encouraging other farmers and enthusiasts to get started.
Looking after bees is not a simple task and each season and hives brings new problems to solve. Donya can often be spotted in my bee keeper’s suit in the local area capturing swarms and giving them a good home on the farm. She also tries to help educate the public and new bee keepers about the importance of taking care of bees — bees are essential for our eco-system!
It was a huge honour to win a Bees Needs away in 2022 for our commitment to bees and spreading awareness of how important they are.
